Ferragudo
First
impressions of the little picture postcard fishing village of
Ferragudo are, how has the Algarve kept this village, as we all
imagine a Portuguese fishing village should be. This picturesque
village remains unspoilt and has retained its character and traditional
values. Its beautiful bay filled with fishing boats, which still
make a catch each day, for the population of the village and beyond.
Stroll through winding cobbled streets with white washed houses
leading to the square and waterfront which hosts a wealth of restaurants,
bars and cafés. Ferragudo is about a 45 minute drive from
Faro Airport and is just three kms from the EN125.
The
Village sits on the opposite bank of the River Arade to Portimão
and the lively resort of Praia da Rocha, with its new Marina full
of colourful yachts, both of which can be reached by the new Water
Taxi Service.
Close
by are the two top class golf courses of Pinta and Gramacho, whilst
the championship course of Penina (home of the Portuguese Open)
is only ten minutes drive away. There are two sandy beaches within
walking distance and a further three superb beaches in close proximity
to the village.
