About
Barnard's
 We
first moved to Portugal in the year 2000 and it took us a year
to find a premise that we felt we could offer the style and type
of service we hoped for. Geraldine with a background of many years
in the catering industry had always dreamt of owning and running
her own business. With Roger on board, with a marketing background
and a very keen interest in cooking, we opened our restaurant
on March 17th 2001.
On
entering this lovely wood beamed restaurant you are greeted with
that warm Irish smile from Geraldine, while Roger is busy preparing
the tantalizing dishes that are on offer. Immediately you feel
at home as you allow yourself to soak in the relaxed atmosphere
of this lovely restaurant.
The
menu is comprehensive, with a wide range of mouth-watering dishes,
including Vegetarian choices. The emphasis we create at Barnard's,
is definitely on home-made quality cooking, with each course a
taste sensation, all at a price you can afford. Geraldine even
bakes daily, traditional Irish Soda Bread for you to enjoy.
Offering
a wide range of fine Portuguese wines, ranging from the house,
(which is always well received), to award winning wines of character
and style. We will be happy to guide you with your choice.
 With
a total seating capacity of 57 we have plenty of room to cater
for large parties, i.e. presentations, birthday, anniversary and
local society dinners. To add interest to our year, we change
our menu to suit the seasons, Winter or Summer. We also arrange
theme nights, i.e. St Valentine's, St Patrick's, Easter, Traditional
Christmas, etc, etc. Geraldine can prepare Celebration Cakes for
most occasions.
We
pride ourselves in being a very family friendly restaurant. Children
have their own menu and are provide with colourings, crayons etc,
and an art gallery to display their masterpieces.
An
additional service the restaurant offers, is Mrs B's Mobile Kitchen
Service, we do the cooking and deliver it to your door, ready
for you to enjoy.
The
restaurant is open Monday to Saturday for dinner served between
6.30pm and 10.00pm. It is air-conditioned and has a terrace for
those warm summer evenings.
